Butte County Office of Education offers multiple opportunities in reading literacy instruction throughout the year.  For current offerings, see "Upcoming Events" below.

Butte Reading Implementation Center (RIC)
As part of SB 472 and the Reading First Professional Development Program, teachers and instructional aides or paraprofessionals learn how to effectively implement the new California state content standards using the California aligned curriculum framework and the State Board of Education or local Board (high schools) approved instructional materials. For teachers this program consists of a 40-hour institute with 80 hours of follow-up activities. Instructional aides or paraprofessionals attend 20 hours during the school year.

SB 472 modified trainings will offer a two or three-day modified training option.
